Level 1

Beginner: make your first useful print

Start with safe workspace setup, an approachable FDM printer, PLA filament, a slicer and a small model with good community documentation. Learn first-layer calibration, supports, infill, orientation and basic maintenance before chasing speed or exotic materials.

Suggested mission sequence

  1. Understand FDM, resin and major safety differences.
  2. Set up a stable, ventilated workspace.
  3. Download a clearly licensed calibration model.
  4. Slice with a standard printer profile.
  5. Watch the first layers and stop failed prints early.
  6. Measure the result and record what changed.
  7. Print one genuinely useful object.
